Data are based on information from the US Bureau of the Census and on work carried out at the <a href="http://oceaneconomics.org/Demographics/" target="_blank">Center for the Blue Economy (CBE)</a>. CBE is a research and academic center with research demonstrating the value of ocean and coastal resources and the interdependence of a healthy ocean, well-managed coastline, and strong economy. They provide free, open-access data and analysis on economic and natural resource trends.
